How guides are created

Each guide starts from a practical planning question — when to go, what it costs, which base to choose, how to get there. We research the answer against primary sources (see sources & methodology), structure it for decision-making, and edit it for accuracy before publication.

Use of AI assistance

We use AI tools to structure drafts, detect contradictions, summarize sources and assist with editing. AI assistance does not replace human verification:

  • Figures, rules, prices, timetables and recommendations must be checked against primary sources before they are stated as fact.
  • We do not present generated content as personal experience. If a page ever describes first-hand experience, it will be attributed to a real, named person.
  • Pages that have been through a full verification pass display a “verified” date. Pages without that date have not had one and should be double-checked against official sources before you rely on the details.

Dates: what they mean

  • Published: when the page first went live.
  • Updated (modifiedDate): changed only when a page receives a substantial content update — corrected facts, new sections, re-verified prices. Cosmetic or technical changes do not update this date.
  • Verified (lastVerified): set only when prices, timetables and practical details have actually been re-checked against primary sources on that date. We never fabricate this date, which is why many pages do not show one yet.

Errors and corrections

When an error is reported or found, we verify it against a primary source, fix the page, and update the relevant dates. Reader corrections are welcome: [email protected].

Tours, hotels and links

  • Recommendations are selected for usefulness: schedule fit, location, seasonal availability, and operator reliability signals — not for commission.
  • We do not write reviews of tours or products we have not used as if they were first-hand experience. Comparative information (prices, duration, what is included) is compiled from operator materials.
  • Affiliate links are disclosed and marked; see the affiliate disclosure. Many outbound links (official operators, transport companies, tourism boards) earn us nothing and exist purely because they are useful.
